Catania Football Club announces that it has acquired, on a temporary basis, the sporting rights of Flavio Russo from U.S. Sassuolo Calcio.
Born in Catania on 31 August 2004 and developed in the Calcio Catania youth academy, Russo made his Serie C debut in the red-and-blue shirt in 2021.
Over the following two seasons, the striker made 71 appearances for Sassuolo’s Under-19 side, scoring 36 goals and providing 8 assists. In the 2023/24 season, he was crowned Italian champion at youth level and finished as the top scorer in the Primavera 1 championship, netting 20 goals during the regular season before scoring in each of the three matches in the final stage.
His outstanding season was capped off in June 2024 with a call-up to the Italy Under-20 national team.
In 2024/25, after joining Sassuolo’s first team, Russo contributed to the Neroverdi’s promotion to Serie A with 2 goals in 12 appearances.
He has also played in Serie B for Cesena, Virtus Entella and Pescara.
