After the penultimate weekly training session and on the eve of the departure for Calabria, coach Ferraro answered questions from journalists in the press room, at the "Massimino", analyzing the main issues relating to the match at Locri scheduled for Sunday:
“It will be important like all the others, we don't look at the standings because we must always think about winning, regardless. We have great respect for Locri and we congratulate them because they are doing something extraordinary; for us it's an exceptional championship and we go there with the usual mentality: to bring home the three points. We have a club that observes everything we do, from Tuesday to Sunday, we must always give our best. The club evaluates every Sunday, also for this reason the calculations on the ranking are useless. Individual performance? I don't think it's appropriate to judge for a moment or a match but you have to do it after a whole year. In Locri there will be a large audience, we play at their home but nothing changes for us. I think it will be an open-faced competition: whoever proves to be the best, most lucid and concentrated will win. Vitale and Palermo recovered? Almost, we'll see tomorrow. Alternative solutions for the midfield? We have Di Grazia, Andrea Russotto who can play in that department as well as Rapisarda and Castellini who played in the youth sector. Between 2004, Baldassar comes from a professional tournament and is equally regarded, as is Groaz in goal. In attack, Jefferson is working on the side and we will evaluate whether to call him up; De Respinis had a chance and I didn't mind his performance, those who come from other realities need to be given the right time.
Up front we have many solutions, whoever takes over can make an important contribution and the best answer, taking advantage of the opportunity that is given to him.
The rearguard? We must not only defend but also build. True success is intensity in training, Sunday is the day when you reap the fruits of your labour. Ferraro's future? It's tomorrow's match, everything else is premature; the company make its assessments, right now I'm interested in making and making mistakes as little as possible. It will be an important match but not decisive, in fact after the next one there will still be 10 games and another 30 points will be up for grabs, we have to think about the single commitment that awaits us and the performance. Never lower the bar, the "little devil" is always around the corner. More than fear, I respect Locri: they intend to beat Catania to crown their championship, we go with great motivation".
